Coast Guard member insists you call him Coast Guardian

HOUSTON – A Coast Guard member assigned to Sector Houston-Galveston has recently come out publicly as “Coast Guardian” and insists members respect his journey into Coast Guardianism.

Roy Connolly is a Coast Guard training instructor for the Sector Houston-Galveston and has been serving for over a decade as a devout Coast Guardian with a vanity license plate to prove it.

“It just hit me. My faith in the Coast Guard goes deeper than any other faith I hold true and it only feels right that I dedicate my life and soul to Coast Guardianism and all its practices,” Connolly said.

“This is something that I’ve been moonlighting for a while and saw that other people were using Coast Guardianism as a way to avoid getting the mandatory COVID vaccine, I knew I was even more faithful to my new religion,” Connolly said.

A Dallas native, Roy was born as part of an old school, traditional, and strict Navy family as the youngest of five.

“However, as a child, I did feel different. I knew that I was not who I was. I was born as a Navy brat, so identifying as a Coast Guardian now has put me at odds with my family who no longer talk to me,” said Connolly. “They call my faith ‘knee deep.’”

“I was about 27 when I learned what the term Coast Guardian was, so, I had no idea. Now I understand and identify as a Coast Guardian who works with aging equipment, struggles with confusing software, and saves the lives of people who only believe what I believe,” Connolly said.
